so now the body is underway i figured time to add some more muscle. so out came the cast manifolds for headers and y-pipeand a new exhaust starting with a 3" catalytic converter to a 2.5" pipe and force muffler. sounds sick at high rpm and pretty normal at regular speed.

as allen requested some pics of the intame setup i did.

and the throttlebody. started as a 63mm inlet and a 59mm outlet i couldnt keep that junk. although i forgot the camera when i finished it my tb is now 69mm inlet and outlet. might be a bit much but i definitly feel the changes.

i also put in a cosmic racing short throw shifter but im haveing a clearance issue with the trim plate so ill need to modify just a little bit. i have a few little adjustments to make then ill do a track run. then ill install my tuner and adjust it and run again. should be a good baseline for the turbo next spring.

I got the same headers and Y-pipe off ebay great deal. That back header was a pain to put on with out taking off the intake manifold.

Tip on the rear exhaust manifold removal/header installation: Once cross member and mounts are removed, use a cargo strap or tie down to pull the front of the motor up towards the hood. MUCH EASIER.

gravy again except... some constructive criticism - get rid of the valve cover vent hose going into the mid pipe - won't gunk up your tb and will lower intake temp.

I like the DIY on the intake, but doesn't the filter get soaked during rain or filthy from being under the front of the car?

dmax, someone stopped short in front of me so it got banged up. had to replace a bunch of stuff.

as for the filter the skid plate whatever u want to call it actually covers 3/4 of the filter so it gets the air and not the mess. been pretty clean for 3000 miles.

the tb writeup im working on. i lost a few pics so ill have to pop the tb off so i can show with the micrometer on it for the size diff. although as a shorty writeup basically follow the instructions of my tb cleaning post. then get the air grinder stone set from lowes. also need a michrometer. measure your diameter then using the large cone start at the lip on either side and follow clockwise around the tb taking off metal. every so often rotate the tb so your not putting a deeper pocket on one side. keep going until desired diameter is set but not enough to mess up the throttle plate. i belive the intake hole for the tb is 68mm so thats what i made mine on both sides so it now looks like this in the inside >< and flows amazing. i switched to the small wheel to get a cleaning of the metal off near the tb plate.

i have a 96 tb in my garage i was thinking about doing a vid porting that one and putting it online then sell the tb since i already have one done
