well i ordered a 2.25" brm exhaust with hi flow cat.

injen + sohc + hotshot + hi-flow + brm

i figured if i left out the resonator i could gain some cheap hp.

azhitman's response of "it'll be pretty darn loud" still puzzles me

so how loud is "pretty darn loud"? and how many horsies will this little stunt get me?

How would you gain hp from having a resonator-less exhaust...

edit: And pretty darn loud is an understatement.

the resonater wont make much of a difference powerwise, but without it expect it to be loud. The resonater makes it less raspy and overall a less ricy sound.

The high flow cat might keep the noise tame. (but still loud)

I'd never want anyone to think a resonator would hamper flow. It's the single-best way to reduce "noise" in a free-flowing system.

Greg, arent resonators built *around* the pipe?

They would not do anything to decrease HP...believe me, my BRM will be resonated. Theres no way I'm doing the ricepipe thing again.

I can vouche for that. I've had my exhaust with and without the resonator. You dont want to go without it. You cant even talk to anyone in the car it so freaking loud. It does sound alright though, not really all that ricy if you ask me. But man, as soon as you put that resonator on there, well actuallt the first think you'll notice is that you cant hear it. Atleast I couldn't because I was so used to taking it in at full force. But after you get used to it, it sounds perfect. My friend told me it sounded like a V6. The resonator makes the difference between rattling your ears and rumbling your chest

My 2.5in, without resonator, got a "that things louder 'n hell" from a WV cop. The comment was made shortly after he was called to pull me over for "disrupting circuit court" (by driving past)

Geez. I'm assuming I won't last 2 mins with those exhausts down here in SoCal. Will the exhaust with resonator be quiet enough to be legal down here? Anyone from SoCal with one and have any comments?
