Yes it will make your exhaust louder. I had a custom magnaflow, and it had a V-8 is sound, and after the resonator was pulled off, it was more like a Honda with a fart can.

What about on a 2002 I35? Could I take it off without sounding like a rice burner? Nothing has been done to the exhaust - and I don't plan to do anything to it - but do you think it would make the engine sound deeper?

I've heard a Maxima run an aftermarket y with an aftermarket b without the resonator and with the stock muffler. It sounds great and this will be my set-up. I've also heard a Maxima run an aftermarket y with an aftermarket b without the resonator with an aftermarket muffler. It sounds like ***.
