Not in all cases; it depends on what other exhaust mods you do. I can only speak for the V8, not the V6. I am on my third exhaust set up. My first mod was to delete the resonator midpipe assembly and the Y fitting part of the front Y-pipe assembly, and replace that with an X-pipe. I kept the stock 2" size and stock mufflers. It was a little louder but not enough for me so for my second mod, I deleted the part of the front Y-pipe assembly that has the secondary cats (V6 does not have this) and ran just 2" straight pipes. I liked this set up but after further research and reading other posts about performance gains with a custom tune, I decided to replace all of it with a 2-1/2 X-pipe set up with flex connectors, and swapped the stock mufflers for the sport mufflers, which is a straight through design geared for low end and mid range power gains. I am still running the stock tune, and my car doesn't rasp or drone. I will amend my statement to say that it will be louder inside the cabin, but it's more of a muscle sound. I plan on going with Uprev soon to take advantage of the exhaust mods.
There is plenty of info on rasp and drone. The general consensus seems to be improper pipe sizing (too big) and/or lack of a good X or H pipe design. There also seems to be mixed opinions on removing resonators and whether or not it causes rasp and/or drone. Also, retuning your engine can reduce or eliminate the issues as well. The sound clips on Youtube, etc. will give you a general feel for the sound, but to me, they do not accurately convey the actual sound IMHO.
Anyway, just my $0.02 on the V8, there are plenty of V6 owners who can probably chime in.
