i know this is kind of a newbie question.. what would be the effects if i were to remove my resonator and replace it with a "test pipe" on an otherwise stock exhaust system? meaning id keep all the stock pipe, cat, and muffler. would it be raspy or deeper? and extremely loud? thanks

how bout this. more than likely it would have similar effects of taking off your resonator on your intake. probably not too much louder, but noticible nonetheless. I dont know if you'd see any gain off of it, but I would think it would be deeper.. Just a thought.

so the sound would be a little deeper. well thats good enough for me. I didnt expect any real HP gains out of it. anyone disagree?

I can neither confirm nor deny it. but if its anything like taking the resonator of the intake, expect to see a little.

im more concerned with the sound.. i just hate that pingy raspy straight pipe sound. so you think itll still be clean, just a little deeper/louder?

I've heard from people that it will be louder. deeper tone, I dunno. when I got my car the resonator was all broken on the inside, and the welds for the exhaust pipe comming out of the resonator where gone. it sounded pretty raspy.

i dont know if it has to do with the resonator removal, but my car would make this weird somewhat high pitched resonating tone when i am decelerating in gear. I hear it usually anywhere from 2-4th gear. I really think the absence of a resonator is causing this. I'd say leave it in.

did you have stock exhaust when you heard that high pitched noise? cause i think with a "can" style straight thru muffler itd be wicked loud, kinda like straight pipe with just a cat.
