I am thinking about a getting a resonator for my 2.5 inch cat-back exhaust because it's too loud and it has a buzzing noise when pushed passed 2500 RPM. Do resonators really work? Do they have different sizes and do the bigger ones cut off more of the noise? Please someone explain for me.

A resonator will definatly help reduce the loudness. The buzzing is probably either the heatsheild on the catalytic converter or your exaust vibrating on something.

Don't you mean a silencer,I thought resonators just make it louder.or are they the same thing?

A resonator is alike another muffler.

Yep, but smaller and straight through with no flow restriction :) They help cut out nasty resonant frequencies and generally make things less ricey.
