Hey Guys... My Girls got a 09 Rogue S and I was wondering if i could cut out her resonator in her exhaust to make it a little bit more raspy and loud...

I know it works with my HR motor in my EX but no clue if i could do it to hers...

Any input?

If you do a search on the Altima section of the forum, you will find plenty of exhaust mods for the QR25DE motor used in the Altima, Sentra SE-R, and Rogue.

But I will sum it up for you:

No amount of exhaust mods will make the QR25DE sound like the VQ series V-6 used in the EX.

I have not personally modded the exhaust on my Rogue or my previous Altima 2.5, but I did a fair bit of research. I've also seen/heard several heavily modded Sentra SE-R's (mainly race cars) with the QR25DE.

This is what I've found:

Gutting/eliminating the resonator, adding high flow mufflers, headers, etc will just increase high frequency noise... make it more 'tinny' like some riced up sport compact. You will also get more droning making the car unbearable to drive on the highway. Many who have attempted high flow exhausts on the QR have actually ADDED resonators to try and attenuate the tinny sound.

By all means, browse the Altima and Sentra sections of the NICO forums to get a better understanding of what to expect.

Here is a link to the new '07-'08 Sentra SE-R cat-back exhaust from BRM. There are sound clips as well.

Keep in mind, the SE-R Spec-V used for the sound clips uses a slightly different QR25DE motor compared to the Rogue. The Spec-V has different cylinder heads, a redesigned header, and a higher redline. It will sound different as compared to the 'normal' QR25DEmotors.

As you can see, BRM still uses a resonator in their setup. Without it, you would be getting alot more high frequency noise and droning on the highway. Some have gone so far as to install the biggest resonator they can fit under the car... just to reduce the noise.

And before you ask....

Although the Rogue is based on the Sentra chassis, the BRM exhaust WILL NOT bolt onto a Rogue. There are no aftermarket performance exhaust systems for the Rogue. You would have to custom fabricate one.
