Resognater or Cat?
i just lifted my car to see if i had lsd... i do, and i noticed that i had three muffler type things. the furthest one twards the engine, looks like an oval thing, im assuming this is the catalytic converter, correct? the second is about 3 feet up, in the mid of the car, right infront and to the left of the differential (if your lookin from behind) looks more square, is this a resignator?? and do i need it? whats it do? and the last is the muffler itself.... the middle one on my car has a big hole in it. i doubt i can pass emmisions with this like this. Can anyone tell me if i can just pull this off and put a straight pipe in its place and still pass emmisions? and also if i were to replace it with a straight pipe, could i get the straight pipe and attack it with 2 plastic like sleeves (the things that would connect intake piping togheter and can be colorful) and attack 2 of those connecting the pipe and just put clamps on it without it all melting? it wouuld be a temporary solution untill i can get an exhaust. You cannot put anything "plastic" on your exhaust system unless you want to get your car impounded... Just think if that stuff startsmelting and smoking during your emissions est?
Dude, just fix it the right way. You have a cat, a resonator and a muffler. Post up a pic, point out where the holes are and I'll see if I can get you hooked up.
Might be as simple as going to Midas and having some patches welded in for $50 to get you through emissions.
