ok, so my sr's maf reads 1.8v at idle, its a sohc ka maf on a s14sr which works ok but really bogs around 4k at wot. the sr fsm says .8 to 1.5 at idle so its obviously just reading too high. i used to have an emanage and the car ran fine with the emanage leaned out almost to the max with the same values for all rpms and throttle positions.

i went to radio shack and baught a 25 ohm, 3 watt variable resistor (poteneometer (sp)) i think the largest one they had and its really not dropping the voltage at all. i tried to pull the amperage but i've never really used that function on my multimeter and i think im doing it wrong because it would only read like 00.1 on the blue A~ setting with i think 200m or just 20. pretty much the most sensitive setting.

i guess there is a way to use ohms law I=V/R to calculate the correct ohm resistor i need but i get lost around this part.

like i said, i just finnished the swap, so i'm obvously broke (and in collage) so a piggy back is sort of out of the question atleast for a little while, so i'm looking for a temp fix and $2.00 compared to $200 sounds way better.

thanks for all the positive feed back guys.

here is a little more detail

this is what i did. but as soon as i hooked up the ground, the computer rejected the maf and went into limp mode. also the voltage on the maf signal wire dropped to zero (at the maf, before the pot!?) which is why the car went into limp mode.

i found a topic baised around what im trying to do here.

http://www.mpgresearch.com/for...=2067the things wrong with mine so far is, the maf output and ecu input are switched, and if you look further down there are links for the ford mod simular to this one, they wired i think 60-100k ohm reisistors into the ground wire too. dunno why, but the pot looks to be the same as mine.

i'll probably switch the wires tomorrow and try some resistors on the ground to see if that changes anything.

kouki sr mafs are like 100-150 bucks.if i can get this working then that means there will finally be a good cheep alternative maf for s14 sr's other then stock or z32 mafs with piggyback
