I've noticed that there is a sticky adhesive residue on the chromed letters that spell "VERSA" on the liftback door of my vehicle. I would surmise that it's left from when the letters were applied to the car and the person who was supposed to clean it up it forgot to do so. I'm also assuming that using Goo Gone or any kind of acetone remover would be a mistake since I'm pretty sure the letters are plastic.

Does anybody have any suggestions regarding how to remove the stuff?

Goo Gone would work fine. But be careful not to get much behind the letter or it'll dissolve the adhesive on the letters...

Depending on the adhesive first try with rubbing alcohol, secondly lighter fluid the type you put in to a wick lighter (normally available in small cans with a tiny spout on it), don't confuse it with butane however.

Rubbing alcohol I could second, but lighter fluid I would be wary of ... clear coat, new paint, and all that jazz...
