Hello. The day I had my car tinted the battery died. Immediately following, the TPMS light came on. We checked tire pressure. Everything seems fine. Would anyone be able to tell me how to get this light re-set without having to go to the dealer? Thanks!

If all the tires are at or above the recommended psi, the light will go off eventually. Make sure you don't have a slow leak from a nail or something...

We were hoping that it would reset itself but, it's been a good month now.

It will usually go out within 100 miles. Sometimes it will go out if you make short trips as it checks everytime you start your car. Just make sure your tire pressure is above 35lbs on all four wheels. Use a good quality tire pressure gauge and don't rely on the ones at gas stations.

Yes, my husband works for Goodyear as a Service Manager and did all the things you suggested. He doesn't have to newest software here at home to check further. (he's out of work on a back injury) UGH.. hate to have to pay the dealer. He thought that maybe there was a 'trick' to shutting it off.

In my first year of ownership the dealer replaced two TPMS sensors under warranty because the light wouldn't go out. Everything has been fine since. I keep my tires at 38lbs when cold.

Have you tried temporarily "over inflating" the tires to around 40-42 psi? Not to drive on them but to get the sensor to reset?

Alternatively, if the tires are the proper pressure, what would the impact be if you reset the battery? You'd lose a lot of the settings on the car and have to reset everything, but if you really don't want to go to the dealer...Desparate measures for deparate times?

Have you tried calling the dealer to see if they'd reset it without charge? You never know...

If you've checked all the tires and they are above the recommended psi, take it to the dealer. It sounds like there may be an issue with the system. It should be covered by warranty.

In my 2005 Toyota 4Runner I had that issue once. I had to make sure the spare was inflated to the proper PSI as well. I don't know if your spare has a TPMS but thats something to check.

Thanks for the advice guys. We're going to try to over inflate them and also check the spare. I'll keep you posted.

Well, nothing that we tried worked so, we had to take it to the dealer this morning. I guess because the battery died that day, it messed up the codes and they just had to reset them. It was quick and easy and there was no charge. Got a nice wash and vacuum and we were on our way! Harte Infiniti in Hartford really treats us well!
