Ok I was just wondering if when I unhook the battery to reset the ecu do I need to unplug the positive side also. I thought it was just the negative side but Im just checking.

I did this to my car both + and - off the battery for a few hours it did not reset the ECU. I had to do it from the ECU just like what the bulletin board says....

For the ecu to reset you need to leave the car without any power for 24 hours (see FSM). After you unplug the battery, be sure to completely drain the system of power by turning on the lights or stereo.

I left it off over night it turned the light off but it came back on so maybe my egr is really clogged. Any body wanna sell a stock primary cat and downpipe.

Did it come back on immediately? If so the ecu didn't reset. If it truly reset it should take more than 1 drive cycle. I believe it has to see it for 2 or 3 drive cycles.

For an OBDII vehicle the best way to do it is with a scan tool. Autozone can do this for free for you.

Yeah autozone did and it was code 33 it said the EGR was blocked. The light didnt come on right away i drove to school and then as I was pulling out of the school the light came back on. Has anyone else gotten a check engine light saying the egr was blocked and if so howd you fix it.
