I’d like to know if anyone had experience with replacing airbags on a s14a. Mine were deployed during a wreck, so I had both of them replaced but kept the old sensor and computer. Now the air-bag light is lit up. I’ve done the door-sensor procedure from 240sx.org faq section, which didn’t seem to work. Only options I know of is to buy a new computer ($200-$300) or have the current one reset (still too much $$) Maybe if I shock it with 220 volts it’ll reset itself :) any ideas…?

I have the same problem, except I'm not going to replace my air bags. I'm planning on ripping out the air bag bulb and call it a night. How did you guys repair the damage to the dash from the passenger side air bag? Having problems locating a used one, and Nissan wants a G for a new one.

thanks

i'm guessing the engineers at Nissan had a brainfart when they designed the dash.

I took my dash out and dented it back to it's original shape. bought an airbag witht he top cover and will eaither glue/heat the bottom portion on or get a dashmat (http://www.dashmat.com)

hey cool, thanks for the link! do you think it might look odd with a carpet dash, and the rest of my interior is leather? I saw one that looked like plastic, but they say truck and suv's only. I suppose it will look better than a huge *** crack in the dash.

Once the car is wrecked and the bags are deployed the airbag control module, computer, has to be replaced because the g-sensor is in the module and is permenately damaged. Also you might want to check the legal issues of disabling the airbags. This could fall under federal law and open all kinds of lawsuits if traced back to you.

I'm planning on having all the sensors replaced soon. But i really dont want to nor think it's that necessary. My uncle had his airbags stolen from an accord...a month later he put used one in...and a month after that he ran into a pole at a parking lot going some 30 +/- mph. anyway, the weird part is that his airbags weren't connected; they were just put in place for show and deployed!!
