ok so this will probably work for all s14 cars 95-98 as well i dont know. but here we go live and learn. i bought a new cluster for my car and had this old one to get rid of..... EBAY wooooo. so i post it up and realize nobody wants an odo with 230k miles on it so i did some research... nobody knew how to do this and several broke it... so captain common sense comes and saves the day step one is remove the gauge from the cluster. not to hard 3 screws and a cover and tada gage is out so here is where i started and btw do not i repeat do not take the faceplate off unless you know a way to avoid breaking the tension spring under the plate. the deal that holds the spedo back so it goes to 0 when your done driving. and here it is after this dumbass broked it

SO DONT DO IT LESS YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.

first all you need is a screwdriver and a needle nose pliers, maybe scotch tape unless your some kind of bad a**ok step 1 remove gauge from clusterstep 2 DONT REMOVE FACEPLATEstep 3 pull the shafting steel rod out of the sprockets and take a notice of how they are in there after they all fall out the numbers move freely.... a lil too freely so use some tape to make them perfect and line them up through the view hole on the faceplate

and there you go you just did it better than me cause mine is broke... unless you cant follow the directions i so poorly gave you and broke yours worse than mine..... but there it is ppl the easiest way i know to reset the odometer without breaking it to pieces....and it can be reset the way i described with the faceplate on cause i did it after i broke it to make sure that way works so dont tell me its too hard... ok all enjoy now you can set your actuall motor millage on your sr,ca,rb whatever new miles your makin ok

Isn't that against the law?

Thats useful man. Thanks. I wanted to reset mine also, over 300k on it. Keep taps on the new KA better that way Yeah i think it is illegal to do this then try and sell the car with "lower" mileage. But if your doing it for yourself i don't think anyone would be the wiser.

it depends on what your title says. if your title already states that there is an odometer discrepancy then no its not, also if you change the engine you need to have your title amended to state that there is an odometer discrepancy therefore making it legal. alternatively in some states when you title a vehicle that has in excess of 100k your title will read "in excess of mechanical limits" which also makes you exempt from odometer recording. however, if you change your odometer in any way and attempt to sell the vehicle without notifying the buyer that is most definitely a violation of federal law and will land your a** in jail. all that being said i would like to say i am not a lawer or a law professional, i am in now way trained in law, i take no responsibility for anything you do with this information, i am speaking from personal experience only. it may also be a good idea to check your local and state laws on the subject as thay typically vary state to state.
