After completing an oil change about a week ago, my Service Engine Soon light came on. I double checked my work to ensure I didn't knock any sensor connectors etc. My 350Z is stock for the most part and I haven't made any ECU mods. After searching on line and this forum for methods of resetting the ECU, the only threads I could find entailed a lengthy and complicated process of depressing the accelerator many times and so on....I went back to old school mentality instead and it worked. I disconnected the battery overnight reconnected it in the morning and the light went off and has remained off.I know this is not a fix for every instance but it worked and I figured I would share it.

it may come back on.....have you done any recent modifications to the intake?the throttle body is extremely sensitive and may be what triggered the SES light. Try the directions for the reset, should have instructions for resetting throttle positioning and all that jazz.

p.s. the reset instructions are long but the job is quick.... practice with the key off first

you should have checked the actual code before resetting, how many likes are on your car? might be time for 02 sensors

I have the Ingen CAI which extends to the front of the radiator but haven't touched it since the last filter cleaning about 10K miles ago. There is only 35K on the car. It has only been on the road maybe 10 times this winter. I do start it weekly, I wonder if that may have something to do with it. If it comes back on, I will get the code read then try the full reset procedure. Thanks!

When you unplug the battery over night or at least more than 2 hours that usually works in clearing the CEL, "check engine light".I wouldn't do anything else for the time being.

You need to read the codes first...Identify the problem, fix and reset. That light comes on for a purpose, not just to bug the hell out of you. Your local autozone would let you use their diagnostic tool right in front of the store for free. The same tool can be used to erase the codes.

Get your code pulled at your local autozone for free, then clear the code and monitor what happens.
