Once you touch the needle, it will pretty much never be the same again. That's what most of the people on here that have done any kind of gauge work say.ffrpwner wrote:hmmm ill ask my shop tommorrow thought it would be easy haha it doesnt start moving until im going like 20mph haha
lol harsh85cartagena wrote:Dude..... doing the glow gauges is by far the WORST thingn I've done to the Z!!!!!!! It's true, once you touch does needles it'll NEVER be the same. My temp. And speedometer Gauges stopped working. The fuel gauge was so f*cked up that when the tank was on empty the needle was on half tank! Now I've being searching for a cluster gauge since and by far no luck. I have learned that Nissan made more than 4 different clusters for Z's.... As of right now my Z is running with a 93 AT n/a cluster gauge and everything works except the speedometer.
Oh and today I went to the junk yard and found a TT Z that was wrapped around a tree and took the gauges out thinking they would work... and when I plugged them in I found out that whoever owned that Z had done the exact same sh*t I did!!! They removed the needles to change the gauges for km/h and kg/cm^2 and they are all f*cked up too.....however he/she did do the led covertion to red color so I took those out. So what I'm trying to say is that you'll never gt those back to what they used to be...so your f*cked like me
It's the z's way of telling you it doesn't like rice-a** gauge modifications.ffrpwner wrote:grrrr i wish i never did that :/

the glow gauges i bought were ment to be put on wothout removing the needles but it was impossible to put them on without taking off the needles.leplascencia wrote:did you remove the needle or is it the king of gauges that you just slip over the needle if its the kind that slip over i would make sure the face is not touching the needle and keeping it from mooving thats what was hapining with mine and I just took them off
No, those are a very subtle addition to the stock cluster. I think gauge rings look great.Z31toZ32 wrote:
do you consider gauge rings rice? i suppose they fit the definition, but they look clean imo.

yes...the damage occured when the needles were first removed to be able to put the glow gauges on.B4CH wrote:So this problem still occur even after you removed the glow face ?
I've never really noticed any difference with mine. I even checked my crusing speed with GPS.
You were NOT supposed to remove the needles in the first place. That's the most common mistake people make when they install glow gauge faces. You have to slide them in. If you think you can't, cut some of the non-LED pattern and try it again.85cartagena wrote:
