Some kids in my neighborhood went around throwing pumpkins at cars and smashed my drivers side taillight. I went to the dealership and bought the new taillight assembly and replaced it. Brakes lights, Blinkers and Reverse lights all work, but taillights do not come on when lights are on. Also on my center console, all the display lights work except for the buttons on the radio and the knobs on the a/c console.

Does anyone have any I dea how I can fix this myself without having to take this to the dealership?? It's Christmas time and I don't want to try to afford labor rates or leave my car overnight.

Any Help is greatly appreciated!

My gut instinct says that you blew a fuse. That's the first thing I'd check.

Both taillights dont come on or just one? If one - bulb (dual filament) If both - fuse

I agree. . if it smashed it well enough, could have possibly grounded out somewhere, right?

Initially when the taillight got smashed, the console buttons lights went out, but all the displays are still working. Over Thanksgiving holiday, my brother-in-law went through all the fuses in the car and under the hood and we couldn't find any that were out. Maybe one is out now, but I know the console button lights are not a fuse problem because I tried to follow one of the instructions I found on the net about resetting SES light or Check Engine light. There is something that we do with the ignition and the trip odometer button that ALL the lights will flash and come on and one of the choices in the odometer display will read BULB, but I don't know what to do with that... then when I start the car again the button lights are out again... I know this is confusing and I know NOTHING about cars, so this is exceptionally hardcore for me.

At any rate, I appreacite all help. THANKS!!
