I got a code 41 on my 97' 240 which is the intake air temperature sensor. Some how the harness was not plugged in all the way. Well i fixed that and tried resetting my ecu from the 240sx.org site as follows:

Find the computer(Behind the plastic piece by the passenger foot* Pull it out* Turn your key to the on position* You will see a flathead screw looking bolt on 1 side of the computer. Turn this fully clockwise* Wait at least 2 seconds* Turn it back to fully counterclockwise* This will then show the trouble code - (The check engine light will blink to show this, for instance, blink..blink..blink......blink..blink, will be 32)* After you read the code, you can start the engine* Turn the bolt back to the clockwise position for at least 2 seconds(While running)* Turn it back to the counterclockwise position* Now shut the car and then start it again, this should of removed the code.

I did all of this, but the code keeps coming back. Any ideas?

If the trouble code keeps coming back it means it's a hard code .which means that something is upseting the operation of the operation of the circuit .but try wiggling the harness to see if the check engine light goes away because there might be a short inside the wires going to the harness .

hi,

I'm having the same problem with my 96 240sx with regards to the iat sensor. I disconnected the sensor and the check engine light came on. I connected the sensor back but I can't clear the check engine light. Were you able to clear yours?

Thanks,Allan

The quickest way to reset the ecu i have found is to disconnect the battery and depress the brake pedal for 30 seconds to make sure you use all the electricity in the car. Reconnect battey and there you go. The ecu code is telling which circuit is giving the trouble, so yeah it could be any where in the line from sensor to ecu.
