Welcome to NICO, you've come to the right place. By the way, my son is a senior (ChemE) at Cal graduating in May. Hooray . No more rent or tuition payments.
If you buy OEM pads they come with new sensors. Purchase pads from anywhere else (or go to a shop) and you may or may not get new sensors.
They are only on the passenger side so if you were getting the message before pad replacement you'll need to purchase new sensors and have them installed. Or........You can clip the wires on the old sensors at the harness end (not at the pad end), wire them together, tape them up, plug it back in and never have to worry about sensors again. Do a search in Online Mechanic or go to Q45.org Tech Help section for all the details. Good luck.
