Guys,

I'm in the research phase of figuring out how to spend ~17k on building an SR20DET powered 240SX. I want to eventually run somewhere around 500whp, but for the first go around I'll be happy somewhere between 250-300.

Do any of you have any experience with the Toda stroker kit that ups the displacement to 2.2L? How big of a difference does the upped displacement make? I've heard that the stock internals are good up to about 400hp, so going over that I'll have to redo the bottom end anyway. I figure that if the larger displacement is worth it, then the best time to get it done will be during the initial swap, so that I don't have to pay extra labor to have the motor yanked out of the car in another year or two.

Another question. If the displacement kit is worth ~5k, I'll have to have the motor opened up so I'll do cams and valve springs at the same time. Given that, is there any point in buying the S14 motor, or should I just get a less expensive S13 because it is already going to be opened up?

Buy the S13 motor. High Port intake design (S13) > Low Port (S14/S15), plus it doesn't have VTC.

If I had that much id try to get a Tomei or Jun performance engine that would have just about every goody you would want on the long block, but then you wouldnt have anything left.

To make use of those stroker kits out there, you must also bore and resleeve the engine block. The pistons that come with all the stroker kits are oversized.

I4 aint that bad, less crap moving around in the engine means less mass being flung around.
