I am on my way to resealing the valve cover and I have a few ( for now) questions.

I have the coils out , and I 'm starting on the drivers side.

throttle body bolts out and I'm ready to remove it

what is the trick to removing the accelerator cable from the t-body ?

and the hose that connects to the bottom of the t-body on the right side under the linkage, is that a fuel line?

thanks, I'm sure I will have more questions later (sigh)

To remove the cable from the TB, open the throttle up all the way and you can slide the cable out... easy...

got the cable, thanks

and that is a coolant line, not fuel, actually there are 2 coolant lines going to the throttle body, and best to have some proper size bolts ready to plug them up once removed.

I have a feeling this is going to be a learn as I go post

I found a very, very, basic DIY on Q45.org, but its the little things that slow down the process.

As I discover more during my re-sealing of the valve covers I will post it up so that others may benefit

thank you, we would appreciate those little tidbits...

AS far as the coolant lines, I always just unplug them and leave them dangle. Its high enough that coolant wont keep draining out, just whatever is in the hose...

that nut connecting the pipe to the EGR valve (rear of left side ) takes a 30mm wrench, thought I was gonna have to buy that one , luckily I had one.

lot of rubber hose connections have to be removed to be able to remove these valve covers, so far, after moving the clamps, a little WD40 on the hose ends and a little push with a plastic trim tool and they slide right off.

Question -

are both the pipes "bent " out of the way , the one at the left rear, and the one that points out from the middle over the valve cover ?

Question

drivers side valve cover

are both of the metal pipes bent out of the way, and if so whats the best technique.

the one that connects to the EGR valve, left rear, and the one sticking out over the valve cover in the middle

i dont remember how i got to those, however you should be able to access the screws. I dont remember the metal fittings on the valve covers breaking access to the nuts.

Either way, just bend them out of the way... theyre fairly ductile so theyll move back without too mcuh issue.

got both the valve covers off, bent the EGR pipes just enought to clear the cover.

You do not have to disconnect the fuel lines on the passenger side, mine is a 93 Q45. I removed the top radiator hose (at the engine, not the radiator) and pulled the cover away from the engine and slid it foward, and out.

Most have said the passenger side is the easiest to remove , I would take the drivers side over the passengers side anyday, much easier, no ABS pump and AC lines to deal with.

now to clean, apply sealant and reinstall.
