I went to Kelly Blue Book's site and did a quick comparison between the QX56, Sequoia and Dodge Durango. I compared trade-in values for 2007 against those for 2004. I used KBB's default miles and options but selected 4WD in all cases. The Durango fell 44% in value from 2007 to 2004, QX56, 34% and the Sequoia came out slightly better loosing only 33%. There is a slight error in the number for the Durango because in 2004 the Hemi was not available although engine displacements were the same. I couldn't find the Escalade on their site, I'm curious if anyone has done any numbers on it's resale value over time.

here's my analysis for the cars I was looking at . I used the values from either Edmunds or KBB, I can't remember. Here are original MSRP vs Current value. Now some car companies sell X =/- MSRP but there's no way to account for that on here.

Factors that affect this was new model years coming out.

In this one I show retained value as a % of MSRP.

I called them depreciation although its not correct.

Obviously we all look at different vehicles when deciding what we're going to purchase, but a Durango is tough to put into the same category as the QX IMHO.

I know that I looked at the Mercedes GL450, new Sequoia, Escalade, Denali, Armada, and...I think that is it. I know that the Escalade/Denali drop like a rock (per Edmunds) while the Mercedes did fairly well and the Sequoia was too new to have anything.

Suffice to say, that the QX is a really underrated truck in the luxury SUV category.
