I'm not quite satisfied with the flushness of the back wheels. Or lack of flushness, rather.

Here are some pics:

Should I get 5mm, 8mm, or 10mm spacers? I need the Nico's input!

Also, I would not need to get new studs or nuts, correct?

Thanks!

I was thinking of doing the same for my wheels, but i'm not too sure how it's gonna effect the handling or would it even be noticeable at all

First off, what is the current offset you are running? if you're running a +45 then a 10mm off set will take almost to the edge of the fender but if you're going to do that make sure you get the kit that has the longer wheel bolts and replace the existing ones.

You want to do this safely and not jeopardize your life or any body else who is riding with you.

I agree with Dangeris about the safety.

I never feel safe about the wheel spacers.

But if you do want to buy those, then get the quality ones.

it's not the spacers you have to worry about, it's the strength of the studs because your wheel and nut will be holding to them at a weaker point on the stud.

also dude, you can't just take picks and create a poll on how many mm's you would need to come out to create a flush appearance. You have to take into consideration the width of your wheel and the offset which is something you haven't offered up yet and if you wanna go flush simply plumb bob from your fendor and get a measurement from your wheel to the string and presto. you'll know what size spacer you need.

What about those spacers that are used to change your bolt pattern? That way, your OEM studs are still being used properly...or am I just completely out to lunch on this? I've heard it's safer than regular spacers...

i work in at an autoshop in Baldwin NY and truthfully all i hear is about how peoples rims come off while they are driving...that scares the **** out of me...so as my boss tells everyone "if you need spacers go do the right thing and buy rims that fit"....so i would'nt use spacers if I were you.

IMO, safety overrides everything else... wheels spacers of about 5mm won'r be too bad on the factory studs, but when you start getting into 8-10 mm, that is WAAYY too much stress on em is you ask me.

Regarding the wheel "adapters" someone was speaking of... well, yes those could work, but they will cause you wheels to stick out a MINIMUM of about an extra inch. THe thick plate itself is about an inch or more thick, and you will be attaching your wheels to that!

IMO, if you really want to do this the right way for the look you want.... just sell your wheels, take the loss, and get some wheels that fit exactly the way you want them too!

I have 8.5" wide wheels, with 245 tires, and +35 offset, and IMO, my wheels are pretty flush! That's a good place to start!

Uhm, well that varies with the width as well.

It's 18x7.5 +35

Looks like 5mm is the way to go, if anything. Too bad no one chose that on the pol

I was going to vote 5mm... but it sounds like you really want it flush instead of barely-tucked.

Anyways, I was looking at spacers online some time ago. Just about all of the larger sized ones came with longer studs. These looked to be decent quality, in the +$75 range for a set of 2. I also checked out some "wheel spacers" in autozone or somewhere, and they had these cheesy ones that fit onto the actual stud... did not inspire safe operation to say the least. I definitely can see some fool installing multiples of those on their stock studs, then watching their wheel pass them on the interstate.

Haha, was it you?

Looking at higher quality brands, H&R for example, the spacers they provide come with longer studs.

New studs with the wheel spacers is the only option that I would accept. I'm not attempting to buy those absurd washer looking things off E-bay...

I will be looking into this once I am back in NorCal, probably after Winter quarter ends. I'll make sure and dig up this thread once I do.
