She was none too pleased, to say the least.

Screwing with protesters is fun.

I was prtoesting a BS union strike. The local hat factory (New Era Cap) was installing a set of new machines, to replace work the workers were doing by hand. The owner KEPT ALL THE EMPLOYEES, ordered enough machines to keep them all working and upped the quotas accordingly. Guess what they were protesting? They were protesting because their quotas were going up. Never mind the fact that they would have easier jobs, and were slated a pay raise following the restructure. Guess what happened? Most of the workers left the union after 2 weeks and went back to work. The ones that did not stayed protesting until the strike pay ran up. None of them work for New Era now.

LOL.

New Era is a standup company and they make great products. I have a ton of New Era fitteds.

Anyway, anyone want to comment on this "feather" gentleman being the right-wing incarnation of telco?

I think Hash is pretty middle-of-the-road.

I also think what they're getting at is the fact that you appear to be the most vocally right-of-center poster in this forum... thus the comparison with Howie (telco).

Hope that makes sense.

As do I, as I don't want anyone thinking that they represent the Democratic Party.

Hell, I don't even want people thinking that they represent AMERICANS, of any political orientation.

violent protesting isn't how we get things done in America, it's not our history. That's how they get things done in France, lol.

Yeah, admittedly, in wartime they fold like a card table, but domestically, they're known to rouse some considerable rabble.

In fact, of late (In the Economist) it was suggested that Sarkozy is doing a good job because he's managed to actually push through reform without inciting violent riots and protests.

Can you imagine Bush or Clinton or whomever getting COMMENDED when their actions failed to incite a riot? I don't think we've EVER had expectations quite *that* low.

LOL, yeah yeah.

My point is that our nation is stable enough that we don't incite massive riots over every little union issue.

Unlike, for instance, the whiny French.

Business as usual. Do quiet marches and such during the DNC but bust windows and start near-riots at the RNC while calling the police Nazi's for doing their jobs.

Ok, you can't be f**king serious.

You sound like Feather. Are you really saying that this behavior represents the majority sentiment of the Democratic Party?

Yes, it was awful that the protesters acted like this, but no, they were neither officially associated with any Democratic organization nor would the average Democrat fail to deride the behavior just as much as the average Republican.

People are generally decent, on both sides. No one wants to see nonsense like this. Both sides have their extremists. Do you really want me to start detailing all the conservative extremists and implying that the GOP endorses them? Of course not, because it isn't true.

Did I say anything about the Democratic party as a whole? No. I'm talking about the moonbats from the far left who constantly interrupt speeches and gatherings of Republicans. I sure didn't see any of those style disruptions in Denver from the far right.

Ok, fair enough, I'll grant you that one.

Unfortunately, lefties *do* have a love of protest. It's a by-product of the 1960's that I think the party needs to leave behind, as it alienates moderates.

And I love the term "moonbats"

+1 for "moonbats"

People who believe that protesting (and by that I mean a proper protest and not the a$$ displayed by the f*ckwits in the article) is somehow ineffective, outdated, or for pvssies, remember that without protests Colin Powell would not have lead our troops and Sarah Pallin would not be up for VP. India would still be a British colony (as would Malaysia) and we'd still be waging a cold war with the U.S.S.R.

Protesting is the only non-violent means for the vox populii to be heard when they cannot obtain a microphone (yes, that's a metaphor).

One of my most favorite poems (everyone should read this):

Als die Nazis die Kommunisten holten, habe ich geschwiegen;ich war ja kein Kommunist.

Als sie die Sozialdemokraten einsperrten, habe ich geschwiegen;ich war ja kein Sozialdemokrat.

Als sie die Gewerkschafter holten, habe ich nicht protestiert;ich war ja kein Gewerkschafter.

Als sie die Juden holten, habe ich geschwiegen;ich war ja kein Jude.

Als sie mich holten, gab es keinen mehr, der protestieren konnte.

Translation:

When the Nazis came for the communists,I remained silent;I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,I remained silent;I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,I did not speak out;I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,I remained silent;I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,there was no one left to speak out.

Nothing wrong with NON-VIOLENT protests. That is how Gandhi succeeded!

Physically attacking delegates, who are engaged in the democratic process, is unacceptable.
