Post

Greetings Everyone. I'm new here. Just go a 2013 Rogue S AWD and really like it, but I have a comment and a question.
Comment: The manual says that the little button on the side of the shifter turns O/D off, but it appears to me it just shifts down to low range. This feature and button is not designed well IMO, unless I'm not understanding the intended function. If this button is pressed at hwy speeds the engine will rev to 4k and higher. Me no like.
The Sport button makes much more sense, simply adjusting the shift points. I like this and use it when descending a hill at med or hwy speeds because it drops the CVT into a lower ratio, but not down into the low range.
Questions: Is is possible to reprogram the sport button to be actuated by the little button on the shifter? If that button currently just drops the CVT to low range I can do that by pulling the stick back. It would be safer to have Sport Mode accessed here, I think.

Any input would be welcome guys. Thanks!

OD is not sport. OD is designed to take the car off of the final gear ratio, and put it into what equates to 4th gear.

OD is to be used when you are towing, are in mountainous highways, or the car is filled with lots of people or stuff. this will keep the car from "gear hunting".

sport simply allows the RPM to reach higher numbers for each gear. thats totally different.

Dear Mr. Stricken :)

Sure, I know that OD and Sport are not the same. I hope I didn't imply that in my post. I understand the difference. My question was seeing if there was a way to actuate Sport mode by the switch on the shifter. Enjoying the forum - thanks for your help...
