Reprogram Infotainment System for Apple Car Play

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello Folks,
I am a new member :) and own a 2013 EX37. My question is "has anyone reprogrammed the infotainment system so that when your iPhone is blue tooth connected, you can use and display the phones Nav Map feature on the cars larger display?" If yes, how and who did you use? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Hello and welcome,

As far as I know, the infinti/nissan infotainment systems are not re-programmable and if they were, they are not easy to do. Hence why no one has done it.

I have been trying to see if we can swap the head unit of a qx 30 that has a better resolution than ours. I know it requires rewiring and maybe more but i think it would be a good investment down the road if it could be done as our cars only lack a little bit of tech.

Simply put, it's not possible.

While you probably cannot get the infotainment system reprogrammed to enable Carplay, you may be able to get your phone's display up on the navigation screen.

There is an electronic module made by Naviks that acts as an interface between a video source and the infotainment system. See here:

Maybe it'll work. If you try it out, please let us know how it works out for you.

Apple Car Play doesn't seem very useful. You can do pretty much everything with a BT / USB connection and "Hey Siri", e.g., "hey siri read text messages," or, "hey Siri play songs by The Beatles."
