I feel as if Im obligated to have children. Maybe its because I was given a great childhood with great parents and I feel like I need to pass it on. Also I've seen the way children can affect your life. You can have the sh*tiest day imaginable and a smile and a hug from your child can brighten up the day and make it all worth it. But of course with the caliber of women now Im not sure if its worth the time and money.

Wow, Its sad to see how so many people don't like kids. I LOVE kids and they love me too! I cant wait to have one or two of my own, and, when they pass that dorky stage (after about 6-8) start teaching them about cars and how to drive and all that. I was driving my Dad's 5spd hardbody at 8 years old and I cherish that memory. I want my kids to be the same. Coincidentally, my current gf feels the same about kids :naughty: I <3 her :yesnod

But I do acknowledge that kids are not for everyone. So if you dont like kids and will not raise them properly then DO NOT HAVE THEM! It will make life easier for everyone! /:end rant :werd:

I find it sane, instinctive, and logical to love and care for your own kids.

Anyone who loves kids in general is mental.

I loved -being- a kid. My childhood was amazing. But I hate being around them.

Preach it Jesda!

You can give kids away for free Bex. Its called an abortion clinic, adoption, or a dumpster.

I HATE kids. I can count on one hand the amount of children I can tolerate for an extended amount of time. The rest drive me up a f*** wall. I cringe every time I hear a child crying or screaming.

Also, if any of my children were half as bad as I was in my teenage years, I would toss them into the ocean in little pieces, Dexter style.

Right. Hearing a kid constantly scream makes me have a daydream of yelling STFU!!, taking them by the back of their head and slamming thier forehead in the corner of a coffeetable. Ahh all better.

Something that hasn't been brought up as much as I thought it would: Money. The sheer magnitude of funds it takes to get a child to 18 years old is astounding. Even for the basics.

More to the point of the original post ...

My wife and I married relatively late in life for both of us. After we were married three years, our son was born ... he is just over 13 years old now.

We have our  moments with him, particularly now that he is entering his teen years, but I would not change things for the world - I am very happy and glad that he is here in it!

My wife and I ended up deciding not to have more kids some years after he was born - concern about birth or child problems escalates when a woman reaches a certain age (but can still get pregnant), and we chose not to go through the possibility.

However, in retrospect, we sometimes think we should/could have had another child ... both my wife and I had only two siblings each (very small for our generation and culture), and we get along with them great. Anyway, having a brother or sister is an experience that our son will not get to enjoy now - we are also past the child-bearing and rearing age ... probably too old to adopt now as well.
