Actually, Mrs. repo has the tuRbo powa. I bought my wife a 2000 Saab 9-3 SE convertible on Friday. It's white with a black top, auto, butt-warmers, power everything and it's original sticker was $45k. It had 33k and was a one-owner we took in on a Cadillac trade. All maintenance records came with it as did the books and window sticker.

I never really thought of Saab much before we got this car in. I checked it out because she's wanted a 'vert for a long time now and this one was so damned nice I couldn't pass it up. It's got a 2.0 litre intercooled turbo inline 4 (hmmm, sound familiar?) and is actually deceptively quick. Very quiet and smooth. Large brakes as well.

Now, I just need to keep from modding that bad boy! ;)

Thoughts from the five people that visit this forum?

I'm sorry.

nah, not really....how's the Saab reliability reports and all that on them?

I personally have found Saab to strike boredom in my heart, but those aren't bad looking cars.

modding a Saab is like driving a Banana:D

Nice. Saab's great, and the best part is there aren't seven of them on every block. Plus they are just so damn wierd looking (not always a bad thing) that they tend to draw attention, even moving slow. Car and Driver says the 9-3 is deceptively quick and agile, just as you said. And, I heard somewhere, though I am not sure where, that there is actually a fairly decent aftermarket for the 9-3. But that's not what your wallet wanted to hear, was it. Think of taking down Mustangs in a Saab! Oh yeah! Eat that FoMoCo!!

Dude, I love 240's as much as anyone, but there is no way a 240 vert >> Saab vert. The damned Saab stickered at $45k and has a watercooled turbo from the factory. ;)

CTS? You get to bum CTS's? You bastard!! I really want to test drive a "V" but the dealers are really paranoid about them (for good reason, I know). I wish one of my rich neighbors would buy one and let me drive it, like that dude down the street with the Z32 TT.

It's a demo. Perk of the job. I'm a finance manager at Lockhart Cadillac-Hummer in Indy. I drive a CTS 6500 miles, or until it gets sold and then get a new one. I don't pay a fee, insurance, plates, maintenance, etc, but it is a taxable benefit. The payment would be $600+ per month if I were buying it, so naturally I just take the demo. ;)

In April I took a CTS-V out to http://www.putnampark.com and drove a BMW driving school. I can say with certainty that the V is one hell of a thrill-ride.

Very nice. Now I can believe it, since I have heard it from a real person, not some magazine editor who may be getting reimbursed for a good review. I was behind one getting on the freeway today. The guy was laying on the throttle hard...one of the best sounds I have ever heard. How's the power on the V6 CTS?

3.6L DOHC V-6 w/vvt, 260hp and a 5sp auto. Not bad at up to 2/3 throttle, but the last 1/3 you can tell it's trying to breathe and just can't. I think it would benefit significantly from an intake and a nice, free-flowing BRM exhaust.

The V has an incredible exhaust note, but could stand to be a little less restricted itself. Same for the intake. It seems very restricted as there is not much intake noise at all. I think 400hp is a good start.

Next year, the CTS-V (you have to be specific starting next year, since the STS, XLR, and SRX all get V models, too) is supposedly getting 6.0 liter from the C6 'Vette. Power output is estimated at 500hp. Supposedly, Caddilac is trying to take on the next (V10 powered) BMW 5 series. I think they won't have much trouble.

I just realized, I sort of hijacked your thread, didn't I? Ooops. Sorry about that.

It's cool. I'm just glad there's that much activity here, lol.

Altiman, do you want pics of the car I actually drove or just generic pics of the car itself? If you just want to see what one looks like, go to http://www.cadillac.com

I'll have to wait until I get home to post any specific pics. They're on my home computer, and I'm at work right now.
