I've got a '94 Mercury Villager (basically a Nissan Quest with different stickers) and I seem to be having a problem with motor mounts going bad lately. The first time they were replaced was about 2 years ago when it had about 295K miles on it, which seems about appropriate, if not better than normal. Those mounts went bad in about a year and I replaced them again at the beginning of this summer with about 305K on the clock. Now, that set has gone bad already within 3 months (or at least the one on the driver's side that's easy to see). I can't really think of anything that would cause the mounts to die that fast. There's no oil leaking on them that I can see. Perhaps I've just got a crappy brand in there. Any thoughts?

The trann has never been exactly smooth during shifting, but it's done that all of its life, so I figured it was normal. It's got 305K miles and is still going strong. Perhaps that's part of it...?

i'm thinking you're not using the parking brake too often, so there's more stress on the mounts instead of your rear brake shoes holding the vehicle in place, even w/ a slight incline...

stress on the mounts as well as the parking pawl on the transmission...

had this happen to wife's acura mdx with a driveway on a slight incline

they don't know that you apply the parking brake first, check to see if it's holding the vehicle in place, then~ shift to park

I figured it out. When my dad replaced the motor mounts, he didn't replace the transmission mount, which essentially doubled the torque load on the other mount on the same side. When that mount went bad....etc.

I would keep the old ones and fill them up with window weld..then drill three holes in them.
