Looked through old posts & faq's but couldn't find anything on this. My passenger's side window switch on my 93 J no longer illuminates, nor does the "AUTO" button on the driver's side. Do I need to replace the whole switch or can the lights be replaced? Thanks for any help.

If you got the time (it is somewhat time consuming) there is a way to change out the individual bulbs as long as you don't ruin the gel coverings. The faster way is to simply get another switch.

Try these guys (let em know you're a NICO member!). Cheaper then your local dealership.

Gerard,

The link your provided for replacing the window switch lights is coming up not found. And after finding exactly what I was looking for! Do you know what happened to it or did you or anyone else happen to download the content so it could be reposted here?

Lanny,

I replaced a few of the bulbs on my driver side switch but i dont think i did it the "right" way. I ended up completely disassembling the switch which took some patients. And just as Driver said, i ruined two of the green gel covers so now the lights are orange.

If you have a few extra bucks i would say just purchase the new switch IMO.

good luck my friend,

Andy,

Thanks for your reply. A few extra bucks you say? The price on Pinnacle Infiniti's Web site (aka infinitipartsusa.com in your home town!) was $391 (list price $508). At that price I am willing to put in a few hours of work.

Where did you get the bulbs? Pinnacle said that they only sell them as part of the switch as the bulbs are not designed to be replaced. Please provide a part number if you can.

Care to describe your experience anyway? The rest of us could learn from what you did right and wrong. Or maybe you will want to buy a couple of new bulbs and replace them the right way and share that experience too.

To others: I'm still holding out for Gerard or anyone else who may have downloaded the info at the link that he had posted a couple of years back.

You can get the bulbs from DigiKey. Exactly the same (actually a little brighter).

DigiKey sells supplies for prototyping electronics (my company uses them for years).

Gerard,

That would be great. I was hoping that you or someone else had saved it. Thanks to you, coolyun, and all for your replies. Now I should be able to get my window switches glowing again.
