I just recently purchased a 94 Q45a to replace my interior in my 95 Q, I plan to address this also I need to replace all 4 window regulators. My question is, is it easier to replace the entire door? or, would it be easier to just replace the regulators and motors? and does anyone have the FSM pages to remove and replace. show how this replacement is accomplished? thanks. BTW once this is accomplished, I will be parting this one out

I couldn't find a good picture with bolt locations but page BF-9 shows the layout of what's behind the door panel. It is definately easier to replace a regulator than replacing a door. Don't be confused by the picture. The door lock mechanism is separate from the window controls so there's no rods to mess with.

Roll the window down about 1/2 way and remove the two regulator bracket bolts at the bottom of the window. They're tough to get to and you need to have the window in the correct position to get a wrench on the bolts. After that remove all the 10mm bolts in the center of the door, avoiding the door lock actuator bolts, and the regulator and motor will pull out as one assembly. Once you get it to a bench the motor can be separated from the regulator by removing 3 screws.

You'll be an expert by the time you get the first door done, ready to tackle the next 3.

It sounds like you're stripping the active Q. I thought it was going to be the other way around?

The two bolts for the window are going to be tough to get to but you'll be able to get a wrench in there. Expect to get your knuckles scraped up a bit. For the rest of the bolts holding the regulator (all are on the exterior) it makes no difference if the window is up or down.

another question, the car that im taking parts off has a remote, i just have a key for my car. would I have to exchange the receivers with the regulators for this remove to work on my car, assuming different FCC #'s?

Don't forget the front anti sway bar also, but don't switch the tension rods.

[vulture]What color is the interior of your donor car? I'm looking for black a-pilar covers so that I can add tweeters. [/vulture]

Seems like most of the 94+ were tan... I'm not looking for that much of a project... I'll just wait for one to show up in one of the pull-a-parts.

if the car with the remote is the same year, you can bet the remote will work on your car, you justa have to reprogram your car to recognize it

Compare the FCC #'s on the fob and the controller under the rear deck. They need to match.

I would do whatever you need to do to get the FCC ID numbers to match.
