I couldn't find a good picture with bolt locations but page BF-9 shows the layout of what's behind the door panel. It is definately easier to replace a regulator than replacing a door. Don't be confused by the picture. The door lock mechanism is separate from the window controls so there's no rods to mess with.

Roll the window down about 1/2 way and remove the two regulator bracket bolts at the bottom of the window. They're tough to get to and you need to have the window in the correct position to get a wrench on the bolts. After that remove all the 10mm bolts in the center of the door, avoiding the door lock actuator bolts, and the regulator and motor will pull out as one assembly. Once you get it to a bench the motor can be separated from the regulator by removing 3 screws.
You'll be an expert by the time you get the first door done, ready to tackle the next 3.
It sounds like you're stripping the active Q. I thought it was going to be the other way around?
