replacing water pump on '97 KA, any tips

I'm gonna replace my water pump today and I was wondering if you guys had any tips for the install. I did a search and found that I need to clean off all of the old gasket really well and bleed the coolant line, but is there anything else I'm missing. Also, do I need to go to Nissan for a gasket or do you just use some kind of sealant that you can get at an automotive store?

Ok new problem I ran into. I'm no mechanic but I am bound and determined to do this myself. I loosened the hinge bolt for the alternator and the bolt that holds tension on the belt, but it's not taking off enough tension to remove the belt. Am I missing something?:help
