Now I have searched but I still have a few questions.

From the write up on removing the timing chain guides http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=105618, he says that when replacing the gasket apply RTV to the semi circular portions of the gasket with about 2-3mm layer as shown in the picture. The question: Is there anywhere else that i need to put RTV so that the valve cover will not leak?

Question 2, After removing the top chain guide, do I need to do anything else with the holes left over from the bolts or do I just leave it? This question is more curiosity and I am just wondering what others have done.

Thank you and hope to hear some answers soon.

Question 1 - The RTV is only applied to the semi-circle portion of the rubber plugs.

Question 2 - The left-over holes are blind so no problem.

Thank you very much for clearing that up. So tomorrow ill strip and paint the valve cover and take some pictures along the way. Also, with only 78k on my ka, the inside of the engine is spotless with absolutely no gunk or sludge and its have been just about 3000 so time for an oil change. I am shocked.

So I promise picture tomorrow and thanks again.

I highly recommend removing the side guide also. Nissan says it is not necessary. I had the top one removed a while back and still had some noise. This weekend I took off the side guide and now all i hear is silence, sounds like a new motor. Take your time, mark the distributor, and it will be easy. It is only like 10 or twelve more bolts.

thanks for the advice but i got the valve cover on and i set my torque wrench to about 6.5 b/c the fsm says to tighten to around 5.1-8 ft lbs

well, the first bolt using the torque wrench stripped the hole

I AM SO PISSED! so i tightened the other by hand with my other wrench till i felt like it was a good bite. I cant even think straight so now what do i do...
