Just got a 2004 G35. Thinking about replacing the factory bose unit with either a single or double din Pioneer unit (probably a single din since I don't want distraction of video while driving ;)....

I have a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT in my 2002 pathy. It has built in support for USB, BT 2.0 (with music streaming), wireless infra remote. Anyone has a good recommendation for a newer Pioneer unit with similar support? I hate it how they made a lot of these features optional on some of their newer units....

Also don't mind if anyone can suggest to me about what their set up is like so that you don't completely have a nasty looking center console after you put the unit in. As I understand, G35 console does not make for as an easy setup to put in aftermarket stereo as say the older pathfinder..

Thanks

Would want a double din kit, search around, but they should be on ebay if no where else.

what about the panel around the stereo and ac controller? it looks like it's custom made for the factory stereo and does not lend itself to installing an aftermarket unit? I will have to look at it closer again but it doesn't seem to be as easy of a setup as these older cars...

My CD player died recently so I got prices on single/double from a local audio shop that did my daughters Max radio.
$650 for installation which includes single/double din kit and all wiring so that your steering wheel controls works.
Plus the cost of the radio...singles start at $200, doubles at $400
Owner's son works there and has a very nice 04 G35 coupe with a show stereo.

joe, that mounting kit looks good but losing the dual zone ac control sucks.... also i am sure it costs a lot for that faceplate....

The topic said it all. I am sure many people have faced this problem in all these new cars...They all have center consoles designed so that you can't easily upgraded the stereo... What a racket and conspiracy....... at least in the G35 the a/c and stereo are two separate units... in many cars nowaday, the stereo and the a/c is literally one unit so you are screwed....

At any rate can anyone direct me to where i can find a center console faceplate to install a single or double din stereo that retains all the original a/c features inc. dual zone? i;ve seen a few cheap looking ones that are expensive but you can't keep the dual zone.....

I'm mixed on this subject...while some cars integrate the stereo and AC controls seamlessly, others (cheaper cars) look like crap. The Infiniti does it well, but I understand your concern.

Try these guys for adding a double-din aftermarket stereo in a G35: http://www.nissaninfinitiparts.com/scri ... product=-5

**You can retain the dual-climate control if you modify the new AC board. Search the net, many others have done it.

kinda suck to hv to pay almost as much as a good stereo for a frikin faceplate. I definitely think its a conspiracy since that has becomes the "norm" nowaday. oh well...... sucks.... guess i dont hv much choice......

yup, it does suck...but it's how cars have been designed. Could be worse...at least there is the option! Some cars it would be much more $$$ to go aftermarket.

The good news is that it will look sweet when finished :dblthumb:

Was doing some more research on wiring harness, etc. Wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between these two wiring harnesses:

PAC ROEM-NIS2 vs Metra 70-7551. The metra is a lot cheaper

Also I guess I need this for steering wheel control: PAC SWI-PS

and METRA 99-7604 center console faceplate

Anything else anyone can think of? Thnx

Also would definitely wondering if anyone has some good recommendation on a single din unit. My requirements: has to have usb, aux, and bluetooth 2 with audio streaming.... I currently have a pioneer deh-p7000bt in the pathy which works great. thinking about that also for my G or possibly the deh-7100bt. Much appreciate any other suggestions.

I might go all out for a double din like this: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... VIC-Z110BT
