I am trying to save some money and replace the worn out belt on my girlfriends 2007 2.5 Altima. It has one single belt and I was quoted everything from $130-180 to have it replaced and installed. I find that very pricey considering that the belt around $30 at a car supply store around me. If someone could please tell me the steps I could greatly appreciate it. I was not able to find this on the forum already so I apologize it this question has already been answered.

I'm replacing my belt this evening with a Goodyear Gatorbelt. It was $36 locally, but I had a hard time finding a dealer that carried the Goodyear, eventually getting this wholesale dealer's name thru the Goodyear website.

I'll post my comments.

Well, on the first look, this didn't look like an easy task. The front motor mount completely covers access to the tensioner. A quick check in the FSM (page EM-16) showed you have to pull the passenger wheel and wheelwell cover. Once that was removed, there was easy access to the tensioner. I used a 14 mm wrench to release tension. The book describes using a "rod" to lock the tensioner in place but that wasn't necessary. I was worried the travel without the belt would take the pulley out of reach, but that wasn't the case. The belt routing is in the FSM and in the owners manual. I always need a reference to put the new belt on and printed the page from the FSM. I used a Goodyear Gatorbelt #4060878, $36 locally. The first picture shows the cover removed, the 2nd shows the 14mm wrench on the tensioner. Well, that's done for another 100k. I'll throw the old belt in the spare tire well for emergency use. At only 2 years of age, the belt was actually in fine shape. Cheap insurance I guess.
