A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I have an 06 Sentra SE with the Rockford Fosgate 300w Stereo including 6 disc changer and 8" sub in the trunk. I would like to replace the head unit with a newer aftermarket unit that plays MP3 and has intergrated Sirius controlls but I'd like to keep everything else working. Worst case I guess I could part with the changer (adding the MP3 would offset the need for it), but I'd like to postpone the job of replacing the amp and speakers for now.

I did find a couple of sites that sell wiring harnesses for the car but they don't specifically state weather or not they're compatible with the Fosgate system. I have installed about 30 car audio systems over the past 20 years in all kinds of cars and so I don't need a remedial education about the installation process, but I would like to know someone else has done this succesfully before I start experimenting with harnesses and wasting time which I seem to have little of these days.

Thanks in advance for any usefull info, and I will post any valuable info I discover on my own.

I just replaced the headunit in my 04 and I didnt have too much trouble changeing anyting out. The only part that didnt wire directly was the grounding for the amp, it was wired through the stock head unit (weird) but there was no connection for it on the harness.

Did you run the ground from the harness or did you ground the amp in the trunk? Just to be clear, you have the Rockford Fosgate system? I'd really like to have an apple to apple comparison. Also, did you lose the changer controll? Was there any allowance for that? Thanks again.

I dont have the 300watt system, I have the upgraded system with the sub in the rear deck. All the wireing should pretty much be the same I could only find one harness. I didnt have the changer so I cant help you there because i dont remember what the plug looks like (I threw away my old unit). I grounded the amp off the harness for now, Im gonna ground it in the trunk when I go through and upgrade my speakers later

I appreciate the try, but I would still like to get the nod from someone who has done the 300 watt Rockford Fosgate system over. I'm not ready to take the plunge and do the whole system yet but I'd like to be efficient about replacing the head. I guess I'll keep searching the web for a while. Thanks anyway, I wont have time to deal with this for a few weeks, I'll keep doing my homework.
