I have an automatic 240sx (S13). It looks like the starter went. It used to crank and took longer and longer every time. I bought a starter and decided to change it. I got the two bolts out (the ones closer to the right side). I can't see or reach the bolt on the other side. I searched it up and everyone said it was easy. Is it different for an automatic transmission? It seems like the transmission dipstick is in the way.

Only two bolts hold on the starter. I think if you got two off of one side, you pulled a transmission bell-housing bolt. No big deal, just put it back when you're done. The way I get to the top one is from under the car, from the rear (transmission side, not engine side). You can feel the bolt, it is exactly across the center of the starter bulge from the other bolt you've removed (see your new starter and know where the two holes are). You can barely see it, but don't need to. Put your socket on there and you can do it, but not with much leverage or room for cranking. If you have a nice long extension or two, then you can get your room for leverage and cranking. I used my extensions to make it like 2 feet long. That puts your hand and wrench out of the transmission tunnel and more under your car. PS you should be able to see this bolt by looking down on the starter from very close to your firewall.

Not that I feel like I have to say it, but I'll say it anyway.
Make sure you disconnect your battery. There's some serious amps going to the starter that are always hot (IIRC).
