you're serious? i'll assume you are...take off the front spark plug cover (the plastic cover on top of valve cover), unscrew 1 (or was it 2?) screw/s holding the coil in place, pull the coil out - don't pull by the cable, unscrew the spark plug using a spark plug socket and a long extension, screw the new one in and repeat for other 2 plugs in the front. same for the rear but there's no cover on them.

I never unplugged my coil. does that matter, because I saw a similar reference in the Maxima manual??

Just a couple of hints that might make your job easier. The spark plug hole area tends to be covered in crud. I use compressed air to blow out loose debris after the plug wire is disconnected, so the crud doesn't fall into your cylinder after you remove the plug. this could cause ugly damage if something abrasive falls in there, like a small pebble.

Once the plug is out, my socket wouldn't take the plug with it, so i used a flexible shaft magnet, and it was super easy to fish out the plug. It's usually a 16mm socket for the plug.

When putting in the new plugs, i used platinum plugs and i had to re-gap every one of them to meet the Nissan spec. I used a cheap rubber tool to grip the cap wire end, then get the first couple of threads in, then tightened with the ratchet. Do yourself a favor and put a never-seize compound on the spark plug threads. When installing a new plug, I go finger tight then about 1/2 turn to compress the washer. Once it's snug, stop tightening. it is easy to strip the spark plug hole on an aluminum head.
