So like many of you guys, after 150k+ miles, my rear suspension has had it. I'm replacing the coils with the AC heavy duty springs (https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfin ... p-723.html) and the shocks with the KYB monotube type shocks (http://www.partstrain.com/store/details ... enger_Side).

I know this topic's been discussed before, but I had one question; Once the shocks are unbolted, can the axle swing down far enough to get the springs out, or must the trailing arm also be unbolted? I can't see that you'd have to do the latter, but just wanted to be sure.
Thanks in advance,
-Nick

The trailing arms to do not have to be unbolted, however, you do need to get the car up pretty high to be able to drop the axle low enough for the springs to just fall out.

If you are having difficulties getting the vehicle that high off the ground, you could always lower the axle as far as you can and then use your spring compressors to compress the spring to the point where it can be pulled out.

ahh makes sense. Thanks for the input, that's definitely going to help me avoid one of those oh sh**! moments. I'll have the spring compressor handy. Jackstands on top of a railroad tie to get the car higher methinks? Possibly drive the front wheels up on ramps too so the car isn't leaning too heavily forward.
Thanks again,
-Nick
