Does anyone know what to do about the seat belt warning light when you replace the seats in the Z and use a harness setup?

I'm trying to do some research as to what I need to look at before moving to a set of racing seats and 4 point harness restraint setup

The seat belt buckle switch plays a part in airbag detination. If they are buckled in a light impact the airbags will not detinate. In a moderate to hard impact they will go off no matter what. But the reason for this is to reduce the cost of a repair during an accedent as the G force in a light impact with the seat belt on does not require the need for airbag deployment. Now if you were to jumper the switch so the light stays off all the time then in a light impact the bags wont deploy, meaning if you dont have your seat belt on you will likely be injured. If you wereing your seat belt religously then I just told you how to get the light to go off.

Now if you swap out the seats all together remember you may have airbags in the seat back. So then you would be back to squre one and have the airbag light flashing. In that case you cant simply jump 2 wires to turn it off.

thx

I have the cloth seats, so no airbas there...

Im beginning to think that with after market seats I should still be able to just keep the buckle. That is what I would rather do anyway, so that I could use the seats without harnesses, then when I upgrade to harnesses just bolt them in as well as the seat belt buckle

Remember, If you install harnesses, you should also install a harness bar. Harnesses that are bolted directly to the floor and not routed over a harness bar can cause serious sholder, neck and spinal cord injuries if you are involved in a serious accident. I can explain further if needed!

Great, many people make that mistake and don't use the harness bar.
