I'm a relative novice at car repair and maintenance once you get past oil changes and rotating tires. Could someone tell me, do you have to drain the brake fluid when removing the caliper to replace the rotors? Thx.

you do not have take the caliper off. you just unbolt it and set it on a jack stand or something to keep it from hanging by the brake lines. i think the rotor will then just slide off.

You don't need to remove any fluid from the system to change the rotor. If you are putting in fresh pads, you will want a spreader for the piston in the caliper so that it will allow a thicker pad to fit over the rotor.

I finally replaced the rotors and pads over the weekend. Turned out to be pretty easy. Thanks to all for the advice.

BTW, I bought my rotors from NAPA. $38.50 each. Much better than the $109.00 each that the local Nissan dealer quoted me.

I went with OEM (dealer) as my first set of rotors lasted me 140000 kms......
