So, I am about to start researching how to replace my regular rear seats with the climate controlled seats. Here's my idea:

1. Find a wrecked 2006 M45 with the rear climate controlled seats(black leather).

2. Replace with my old seats.

3. Passengers in the back enjoyed heated and cooled rear ends.

Is this possible or am I just dreaming??? I would appreciate any feedback, especially from a TECH.

Thanks!

The rear seats aren't cooled, just warmed.

as long as you find a donor car its shouldnt be that difficult. I have thought of doing this as well. I have removed my rear seats numerous times and it looks like its already prewired for the seats

Don't quote me on this but I think I've read somewhere that there was a reason why the sports didn't come with rear reclining seats.

The Sport models don't offer the reclining rear seats because there isn't sufficient room to recline as the rear stearing actuators take up extra space.

That sounds pretty on the ball.

There are a few things I noticed while looking this over. In comparing the wiring diagrams for the rear heated (no AC function in the rear) and power circuits there is an awful lot of wiring there that I doubt the non luxe models have. From what I remember from new model training back in the day the luxury edition only comes with wheat interior. Don't quote me on that but I remember seeing something like that a while back.

The work that would be required to make this work would not be worth the additional comfort to the rear seat passengers. Plus the cost would just be exceptional even if you sourced all used parts.

That is a great idea however I an very skeptical that it would work and I would hate to see a member go buy a huge stash of parts only to find out they don't fit. I will look into this a little more when I get some extra time though.

I am looking to do this with the front passenger seat. My 2006 does not raise as high as the driver seat and people notice. I was thinking of installing a shim or replacing it completely with a new 2007-2008 used seat if I could find one.
