45K, tire place told me I was ready, pulled wheel and saw about 5K miles left. Question, the inside factory original pad had about a 1.5" piece of thin metal sticking up (toward the other side of the car). My Duralast replacements do not. Is this the wear warning thing? Also, I bought Ceramic pads and saw the originals seems to be organic- could see copper bits. the ROTORS looked good, barely ANY groove. Comments please!

45K miles, tire store said they were ready,; my inspections looks like about 5K miles left. Also appeared to be organic- saw copper in them, rotors looked great, bought ceramics, will these wear the rotors??? Also factory inside rear pad had a 1.5" piece of tin stick up toward the other side- is that the wear warning- new ones didnt have that?

Yes, if you mean the tab on a J-bend then it's the wear squealer. Unless they're symptomatic, cutting rear rotors is never a good idea. Replace the pads and leave them alone.

You are in the ball park for the rear brake pads. I had to replace the rear brake pads on my 2016 @ 51,429 miles. Then I replaced them @ 107,898 miles.

thanks, so I guess the replacements I bought do not have that wear squealer tab- do most replacements delete it? My other question was do the Ceramic pads cause more wear on the rotors than Organic (think the stockers were organic?)

Some do, some don't. Yes, most OE Nissan pads are organic (NAO). Full ceramic actually causes the least rotor wear of all the major formulations, because it deposits a permanent layer of ceramic material onto the rotors. You can actually only remove that by cutting, so even if there's no runout, you should always do at least a thin "glamor cut" on rotors if switching from ceramic to another type. For that reason, along with the thinner material of rear rotors, if you switch to ceramic rears then you probably shouldn't switch back without new rotors. Semi-metallics and NAO's both work strictly by "abrasive friction" and don't have that issue, but they also don't wear as long. They do have arguably better heat transfer, so both types will generally resist fade better than ceramics. Choose according to your driving.

Thanks and very informative. I drive like an old man- and Im not that old! So these Ceramics are fine. They were actually about as cheap as any of the lesser pads and should work fine for my style.
