Im planning on replacing the rear brakes on my sons 2003 G35 Coupe. It has the Brembo brakes. Is it best to buy the pads online somewhere? Do I need to get shims? if so, what are the shims for? What brand pads do you reccomend, aftermarket or OEM? It looks like the rotors need turning. Is the proceedure straightforward? I have worked on many different makes of cars.

Thanks for any input

Welcome to NICO...!

Many of our sponsors can get you brake pads.... Its up to you, if your going to go away from OEM I would get some hawk HPS pads, but id change all 4 when going to the hawks, if you only want to do rears then just get OEM.

Set of rear OEM pads is going to run you $100... You can reuse the shims... Honestly, I dont even use shims in my setup. I have 300ZX brakes in my Q45 and they are basically the same as the brembos, ive run no shims for 2 sets of brakepads with no ill effects.

I bought my pads (EBC Green Stuff) and had my mechanic put them. Best way to go.
