I wonder if one of you guys could help me out. I am trying to replace the passenger side mirror on my son's 1999 I30, but am having trouble getting started. It seems that access to the mirror assembly is from the inside. I tried to pry the plastic piece that covers the area from the inside.....but it still seems to somehow be secured at the bottom. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Roy

You have to remove the door panel first to gain access to the screws holding the black trim piece on.

Thanks!! That was very helpful. I didn't think that it would be necessary to remove the door panel. As small as it was, that diagram was enough for me to figure out how to free the lower half. I am stuck though. I can't seem to free the front/lower part of the door handle assembly.

Thanks again

it's hard to pop that one off - i almost broke mine. i used a "trim removal tool" which looks like a crowbar/screwdriver for popping out plastic tabs.

if i remember correctly slide your flathead undernath the plastic and pushing in try to pry out.

Well, that's what I had been trying, but I became convinced that I was going to break the darn thing. I'll give it another shot tonight.

Thanks.
