I just bought a 2005 G35x. The previous owner used the wrong cleaner and ruined at least 1 wheel, that I know of. He had them refinished and they are now ruined. I got a price of $360 to have them refinished again. As much as I like these wheels, I want something more sporty. How do I buy wheels and know for sure they will fit my existing tires? I know the lug amount is 5 and the wheel size is 17. I currently have new 215/55R17 tires. What else do I need to know?

Per the FAQ:

OEM wheel specifications:
17" wheels
Front: 17x7.5 +30mm offset
Rear: 17x8 +33mm offset

my understanding from checking thru the forum more closely, is that the AWD should not have a different offset between front and back. Is that correct? I am not interested in replacing my current tires, just the wheels. How do I determine if my 215/55R17 current tires will fit a 17 x 7 wheel?

Correct you want the same size wheel/tires front and rear. The specs above are for a Coupe/RWD Sedan and not a X.

Stay with the same size and width as you current wheels, then your current tires will fit. Looks like your wheels may be 17x7, but you can be sure by looking at the wheel, look for the size stamped in the wheel, either on front or back.

A 215 usuall will fit on a 6-7.5" wide wheel. But I wouldn't put anything below a 7" wheel on a G35.

thank you very much! Your info was very helpful! I was online to a wheel store called Discount Tire Direct and they are selling these gorgeous wheels made by Konig that I think will give the G a whole new look! Thanks again

I had a similar question, but didn't want to start a new thread. I just bought a new 37 sedan RWD this weekend. It came with the 17 inch rims and tires i want to replace them this week. I like the IPl and some other OEM 19" wheels and tires but didn't know if they would fit. Also are there any other options for non oem wheels ( i don't want to use any spacers) I'd like to keep it as much OEM as possible, so i don't void any warranties.

Thanks!

IPL coupe wheels should fit as I believe they have similar offset as the sport 19" wheels. The rear fits better than the front so I would suggest a 10mm spacer for the front. Here's my wifes G35s with my coupe 19" sport wheels and 15mm spacers on the front.

IMO 10mm spacers front and rear with the sport wheels would have been pretty damn flush.

Here's a side shot:
