i had a broken MAF adapter in my car a gap between he maf and the intake so i guess crap got through it my car started to shift wicked ugly like it would get stuck between gears for few seconds, i replaced the adapter changed the filter and cleaned the MAF sensor and it was ok for few miles then it came back the messed up shifting so i'm guessing its the MAF's fault rite?

so i bought a new MAF what are the steps to install it just take the old out and put the new in coz i saw somewhere that the car needs to be reprogrammed is it true?

Just make sure you don't touch the sensing element during replacement procedure. The ECM should be able to learn the new MAF parameters over time. If you want, you can drive around city streets for several minutes, then take it to the highway and drive it at various speeds to establish shift points. The more expensive option of course is taking it to the dealership and having it re-programmed.

You may have to re-learn the Idle RPM, if needed.

make sure the air is not being sucked somewhere else... and check the air filter... bad MAF sensor might be the issue too.
