Hello, All.

I’m new to the G35 world and I would like some help deciding what to buy, year, mileage, manual or automatic ect.

I’m coming from a 05 M3 (with manual) that I had to sell. I’m looking for something close to the M3 in terms of performance but, with lower operating cost. I know the M3 and the G35 are apples and oranges to a certain extent.

I loved the performance of the M3 but, it’s too expensive to maintain (for me). Also, the M is very loud and the ride is harsh.

I’m looking for something in the $15-$20K range.

Thanks in advance

Tyler

M3s are very fast cars You will miss the performance, but the new G's have more power than mine (2004 Sedan AT RWD), and I'm sure the ride is much smoother than a 350Z, M3, etc.

Let us know what you decide on, you can find some 03-07 G35 coupes in the high teens, low twenties Japan makes better cars IMHO, you won't have any trouble with maintainence.... unless you mod the S$()% out of it like we do around here.

look for an 05 or 06 G35 Coupe.

Get a 6speed!

The boys will be around soon and they will let you know what else to look out for!

If you can afford it/find one, go with one that is an 05 or newer. All the bugs were found and fixed, especially by MY06.

yeah i was looking at an 03-05 BMW M3 or 3 series but the maintience costs is what scarded me... plus i like to do stuff my self...

the other car i s was looking at was a 07 WRX Sti Limited... but is was out of my price range... while it has more power than the G35 and bmw... it wasnt as much luxury and wasnt as comfortable as the G35 or bmw.

I dont see how you can go wrong with a 05 or newer G35... Pluse after some mods you could get close to the same power of the M3 and pay less...

But like i said i like having a luxury car that i can actually work on my self and the after market parts arent too expensive just because its a "BMW"

I love mine. Best vehicle I ever owned.

In almost 3 years and 70k miles my only problems were two tire pressure monitor sensors and one air bag control module all replaced under warranty.

Oh, and I replaced the four OEM tires at 47k miles

Get the newest you can afford and brand new if you can

Just my $.02

One thing you will love about the G-35 C or even a 350Z is that they will take the same level of punishment or even higher than an M-3 and none will blink an eye or break down on you. If you love pushing a car without worrying about sudden break downs or overheating, with some level of comfort, then the G-35 Coupe and 350Z are the cars to have. You can get close to the M3 power level with some naturally aspirated modifications---won't hurt the G-35 Coupe one bit. Problem starts, and very few for that matter, relative to the G-35 populaiton, when you add supercahrgers or turbos. If you get a 6MT, and you push the car all the time, get ready to change the clutch at about 30 - 40 K miles. The brakes of the car are soft but effective and yet you can replace them, front or rear, for just under $230 at any Nissan or infiniti dealership. The limited slip differential, which is a good thing to change each year, cost just about $120 each year. search the forum and you will find more info on our cars. Welcome to NICO.

Go with the newest you can find

You should be able to find a 05-06 in that price range if you do your shopping good.

Save a few bucks for mods, in case you don't have any when you buy your G. We'll be able to point you in the right direction for some upgrades.

Welcome to Nico Neighbor!!

Have test driven several M3's over the years and do like them, but always remember how much the parts were for the BMW we did have.

Fell for the G35 Coupe at the Charlotte Auto Show when they first came out and finally have one!!!!

Oh, and my local Nissan dealer has three G Coupes that I would be happy to check out for you. They have given me some great deals in the past!!!Modern Nissan of Lake Norman

Wow, thanks for the welcome.

Looks like it’s going to be a 05 with the six speed.

Is there a fix for the power deficit in the sedan vs. the coup? Does any one know what causes it? Also, what kind of experiences have you all had at Infinity dealers for pre purchase inspections?

Thanks again for the quick responses. I’m looking forward to joining the group!
