I have a climate control unit that works perfectly aside from the lights behind the OFF, and some of the airflow directional buttons not working.

I know I can remove the entire dash facia and remove the climate control unit itself to diagnose, but I have read that once you remove the dash and put it back on you can have rattles from things not fitting quite right. My dash it pretty quiet now (no squeaks), so I don't want to ruin a good thing.

Has anyone had any luck prying or "popping-off" the buttons themselves with the unit in place and changing out the lights?

This is on a 94 q45t.

Thanks!

i have pried the fasica on and off many a time and not caused a rattle yet--i don't think once would cause you any problems. you do have to be careful that you don't break anything (i did once), and i would advise putting it back together as soon as possible before you forget how everything goes back together or where you put the screws (done that many times). where are you getting your replacement bulbs? i'll be needing to get some soon.

You can take the unit out without causing rattles/squeeks, had mine apart may times w/o any noise (old wives tale?). You can buy the bulbs at Radio Shack -I don't have the P/N handy, -and carefully thread the wires back through the blue holder (you'll see), save the little blue bulb caps for re-use since the display will look weird with some brighter than others.

Or you can buy the bulbs a the dealer, but they are pricey -$7 ea.?

Do a search to find the part #

This isnt an american squeky from the factory car. Ive removed my entire dash and put it back with not a problem. The only thing in my car that squeaks is the child seat on the leather

Hopefully that becomes more fun in the progressing years as you mold that little mind into a buzzsaw capable of anything....
