So, i've come to the conclusion that i got a bad injector. I pulled off power to the coils one at a time and found out the one giving me problems, swapped coils from one to another, and same prob so it led me to believe the injector is the part that's gone out.. So.. Once i pull off the old injector ( :wtf2: gonna be one hell of a busted nut to do since the plenum on one side is giving me a hard time to access the screw), can i use the same o-rings from the old injector and put em in the new one? or do i need to replace those as well? do they come with the injector? sorry.. my first time doing the injectors on this car. :/ Thanks for your input in advance!

If you buy the injector from z1 just add the lower and upper o ring to the cart and they will put them on the injector for you so all you gota do is pop them in.

What screw is giving you trouble?

Thanks for your reply ; cool ill def keep that in mind, the screw is well..let's see, I'm talking about the 2nd injector on the pass side (middle of the 3) one of the screws its almost impossible to get to since part of the plenum is right above it lol..tryin to find a way to get to it, another thing, I just pulled the connector to the injector and it was full of green corrosion like to the max, cleaned it up and gonna try and see if that mightve been the cause to the failure :x. What do u think?

This would be a good time to clean ALL the connectors in your engine bay. I like to spray them with electrical contact cleaner and get the crap out with a nail file. Keep doing that till the connectors are clean and squirt some di-electric grease in there before you reconnect. Use di-electric grease on everything but the o2 sensors (some say it messes up the readings).

With the injector, the best way is to remove the plenum. If you dont want to do that, you can dremel/grind the plenum to allow you to access the screws. Lube up the o-rings (i used vaseline) but not too much so that it blocks fuel flow. Press the injector in the rail FULLY with your hands before tightening the cap down on it. Good luck

Use this tutorial for cleaning electrical connectors.

Thanks for your reply bro.

No prob. I personally don't recommend the dremel method and would never do it. You will get metal shavings everywhere and it's still going to be hard to pull that injector out without room to work with. Has your plenum ever been pulled?

Well, i was thinking of just shaving down enough to get the screw out, and then find a way to pull the injector out. I haven't had the car for that long, maybe about 7 months, its been in good shape, i haven't done many things to do it other than a knock sensor relocation, new o2 sensors, and well now the injector, so Nopeee the plenum has never been pulled since i've had it. :/.. would it be too hard to just use pliers to try and pop it out of place?

I would recommed you just pull the plenum. Heres a step by step video I made.

I wouldn't recommend the dremel method. Some guy on another forum just recently within the last week tried the dremel method and he accidentally put a hole in the side of his plenum. Also if you get the screws off getting the injector out will be tough. It was hard getting them out with I had the fuel rails off the car.

Agreed^

I would do the dremel method in an emergency case only. Gather parts, (plenum gasket, fuel hoses, PCV valves and hoses, TB coolant bypass hoses, fuel injector insulators) and set aside one day to do it right

Don't forget the WD-40, blood, sweat and tears.

Myself and a friend just pulled the plenum and replace 3 bed injectors. It was so not fun but i learned a lot. If anyone is in wilmington nc and would like to help me (by teaching or doing or learning) with more work on my Z drop me a line.

So I've read all your posts, and ultimately I'm going to go with the 'plenum pull' hopefully this weekend as the weekdays are a bit hectic. By the way kawininja, that video is awesome haha it will most definitely come in handy, doesn't look easy BUT looks worth it for the experience as well..thanks again for following up on this with me.

yep thats why i made it to help a lot of people. any who in the beginning instead of tearing your interior apart to get to the fuel pump relay (little green box) just pull the fuel pump fuse to relieve the fuel pressure takes less time and less to take apart.
